Ava La Tona, MSW, EMDR Trained Therapist
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and have a growing specialty in integrating animals into the therapeutic process, including working with horses Dottie and Sage and my therapy dog-in-training, Harvey, in session when clinically appropriate. I use these supports alongside EMDR to foster emotional regulation, grounding, and connection. My clinical work draws from attachment theory, somatic practices, and play-based interventions.
I offer in-person services at Prestige Therapeutic Equestrian Center in Brighton, Colorado, where sessions can incorporate equine-assisted and animal-supported work in a peaceful, outdoor setting. Whether I’m supporting youth through emotional dysregulation or collaborating with families to enhance connection, I approach each session with empathy, curiosity, and a deep belief in the healing power of relationship. If in-person sessions are not accessible or virtual therapy feels like a better fit, I offer telehealth sessions as well.
When I’m not in the therapy room, you can find me hiking with my dogs, reading, skiing, or exploring Colorado’s beautiful outdoors.
I invite you to schedule a free 15–20 minute phone or video consultation. This is a chance for us to connect, for me to learn more about what’s bringing you or your child to therapy, and for you to ask any questions you have about me or the therapy process.
