Depression & Anxiety
Depression & Anxiety

Many parents notice changes in their child before a diagnosis ever comes up—more irritability, withdrawal, frequent worries, tearfulness, loss of interest in activities they once enjoyed, trouble sleeping, or big emotional reactions that feel hard to predict or soothe. These can be signs of anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm, and they can be incredibly concerning to witness as a caregiver.

Depression in children and teens doesn’t always look like sadness. It may show up as low motivation, increased isolation, emotional numbness, fatigue, or a sense of hopelessness about themselves or the future. Anxiety can appear as constant worrying, perfectionism, stomachaches or headaches, difficulty concentrating, sleep challenges, or a persistent sense of being “on edge.”

Your child is not broken—and you are not failing as a parent. These experiences are common, treatable, and deserving of compassionate support.

Therapy provides a safe, supportive space for children and teens to explore what they’re feeling and learn skills to better understand and manage their emotions. I use developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed approaches such as EMDR to help reduce the emotional intensity connected to distressing experiences, somatic (body-based) therapy to build regulation and coping skills, and attachment-focused work to support a child’s sense of safety, connection, and self-worth.

When appropriate, I also collaborate with parents and caregivers, offering guidance and tools to strengthen connection at home and support your child’s progress between sessions.

Healing is possible. With the right support, children and teens can build resilience, confidence, and a greater sense of hope. You don’t have to navigate this alone—I’m here to help.
